Launching the competition – RESTORING, PRESERVING AND DEVELOPING THE NAM CAO SILK FABRIC VILLAGE

Our Nam Cao silk weaving village is nearly half a century old, having weathered many ups and downs due to economic recession. Today, over 200 households have returned to the craft of silk weaving. The rhythmic clicking of the looms has returned, creating a bustling atmosphere like before. The products made by the villagers are entirely handcrafted with meticulous care and attention to detail in every step, making a strong impression and gaining recognition both domestically and internationally.

Particularly in November 2023, our traditional Nam Cao silk weaving craft was honored to be included in the list of "National Intangible Cultural Heritage". This is a source of profound pride for the artisans and descendants of Nam Cao.

And in this joyful atmosphere, Nam Cao Silk Cooperative and Hanhsilk Joint Stock Company launched the competition "RESTORING, PRESERVING, AND DEVELOPING THE NAM CAO SILK FABRIC VILLAGE"With the goal of honoring the tireless contributions of artisans, and at the same time inspiring and discovering young talents throughout Nam Cao commune, this competition promises to be an important opportunity for the children of Nam Cao silk weaving village to express their gratitude and love for the precious traditional beauty of their ancestors."

The competition consists of two parts:
Part 1: The traditional weaving competition for artisans from the craft village.
Time: afternoon of December 17, 2023
Location: 100-year-old house – Nam Cao – Kien Xuong – Thai Binh
Part 2: Competition for children of Nam Cao Village (under 18 years old)
Time: afternoon of December 24, 2023
Location: 100-year-old house – Nam Cao – Kien Xuong – Thai Binh
Award ceremony time: Live at the competition.
Judges: Score according to the competition criteria.
Prizes include certificates, gifts, and cash. There is one grand prize, one first prize, one second prize, and two third prizes.
